Old Hillside Health Center’s fate still in the air
An attorney for the receiver in charge of the bankrupt Hillside Health Center described inquiries from two housing developers interested in the former nursing home and assisted living buildings between Chace and Hillside Avenues. City Forester promotes street tree inventory
March 9 -Doug Still, City Forester came to our Annual Meeting to describe the inventory of street trees his Department is doing this year and to ask for volunteers. He also encouraged groups of Summit neighbors to apply for free and low-cost trees through the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program. (more…)
SNA 2006 Annual Meeting Reviews 2005, elects new Board
Thursday, March 9 – About 65 neighbors and guests from government filled the Community Room at Rochambeau Library on Thursday March 9 for Summit Neighborhood Association’s 2006 Annual Meeting. Big crowd at Sandwich Hut looks at No. Main future
A Walgreen’s is almost certain to go up on the site of the former Sears Automotive store at the corner of Frost and North Main according to the city planner responsible for our neighborhood. Neighbors Champion Pocket Park on Morris
The Parks Department agreed to several immediate improvements to the little park on Morris Avenue at a meeting on March 8 at the home of Megan Gardner and Tim Merrish. The City will wait for more advice from a meeting of residents planned for April on a number of additional changes to be made this year Summit Neighborhood Association will also spread the word and stands ready to help as requested. Historic Preservation Faces Threat
The historic tax credit program that has been so instrumental in both preserving Providence’s historic buildings and generating 100’s of millions of dollars of economic development is under threat of repeal.
