January Newsletter Published
Jan 10 - The January
newsletter went to press today, with
the news about neighborhood opposition to the city's zoning revamp,

Miriam Hospital on their building

City Considers Miriam's Master Plan
Jun 1 - Miriam Hospital's "amended" institutional master plan will be considered
by the City Plan Commission at their next meeting on Wednesday, June 16th
at 4:30pm at the Public Safety Complex. See our new section with the

for more about this important meeting.
SNA Releases Survey Results
May 24 - SNA today released the results of a
survey of
neighborhood opinion
about Miriam Hospital and its plans for construction. The results
show strong support for SNA's position that the city, the neighborhood
and the hospital must determine the hospital's
"right size"
in this neighborhood, and limit growth to that.

Apr 13 - The May
newsletter went to press today, once
again focusing on the most dire issue facing our neighborhood:
Lifespan's
plans for construction
in our neighborhood.

Annual Meeting Introduces Lt. Ziegelmayer
Feb 11 - A packed house heard about SNA activies over the past year,
enjoyed an extended question and answer session with their city and
state elected representatives, and met Lieutenant Alan Ziegelmayer,
who is in charge of Police District Eight, which encompasses the Summit,
Mt. Hope and Blackstone neighborhoods. See

State, City Reps Sign Miriam "Right Size" Statement
Feb 11 - Councilman Kevin Jackson, House Majority Leader Gordon Fox and
Senator Rhoda Perry this evening endorsed a
statement
supporting SNA's call for Miriam Hospital to work with neighbors to
establish a "right size" for the hospital in our neighborhood.

Summit Historic District Approved
Oct 7 - The
Providence Preservation Society
sent word today that the
Summit Avenue
Historic District was approved by the
National Park Service
and is now listed on the
National Register of Historic Places.
Eight years in the making, the Summit Avenue district is just the
first of what we hope will be many historic district designations in
our neighborhood.
