Twelfth Annual Yard Sale Is Our Best Ever
| | It was a warm, sunny day. |
We didn't think it was possible, but we raised more than ever before at
this year's yard sale, which was held on May 10th. Generous donations
from Summit neighbors made shopping interesting, as people browsed
clothing, books and music, appliances of all kinds and furniture.
Beautiful weather helped, too.
| | Friends of Rochambeau Book Sale. |
We were joined this year by the
Friends
of Rochambeau, who held their annual book
sale alongside our sale. The Friends' sale is usually a little earlier
in the season and held at the Library, but with the Library building
undergoing renovations, we were happy to offer them a patch of grass.
We're sure a certain shopping synergy developed as the Friends report
they did very well also.
| | More items than the tables could hold. |
Thanks to all the neighbors who donated the great stuff we sold
and to all the folks who came down on that sunny Saturday to
browse and buy. Thanks also to the SNA members who pitched before,
during and after the sale. Special thanks to the Yard Sale
committee, Judy Brown, Liz Cameron, Connie Chesebrough, Bonnie Robison,
and Michelle Tuck, who made this enourmous effort seem so easy.
| | Shoppers browse books and records. |
The Summit Neighborhood Association's Yard Sale is our only
fundraiser. Proceeds from it and from members' dues go primarily
toward the printing cost of our newsletters, and help us do
everything else we do.
If you're curious, here is
the announcement we ran before the sale.
Our next Yard Sale will be in May 2004.
