The Summit Neighborhood Association monthly board meeting will have guests to discuss Crime Watch, city planning and a possible new neighborhood association for the Elmgrove neighborhood. The board meets Monday, July 10 at 7PM in the Community Room at Rochambeau Branch Library on Hope Street. The public is invited to attend.
Linda Painter from the City’s Department of Planning and Development will update SNA on the planned citywide and neighborhood processes to create blueprints for preservation and/or development of every part of the city, including Summit. SNA has long sought such a plan to provide agreed goals and context for major development events such as the expansion of Miriam Hospital and the need for development on North Main Street.
Cooper Woodard, a neighborhood from Edgehill Road, will join us to describe how his block organized a Neighborhood Watch. SNA wants to learn from Cooper and his neighbors and share those lessons with others.
Paula Parker, who recently proposed the creation of a new neighborhood association serving the area centered on Elmgrove Avenue, will come to observe our meeting and discuss how we can help our friends get organized.
