The yard sale was a big success ! Thanks to everyone who helped, donated, or found bargains !

The Big 16th annual SNA yard sale is coming up on Saturday, May 12th (Raindate is the following Sat., May 19th). As always, it will be held on the front lawn of the Church of the Redeemer at 655 Hope St.

The yard sale is SNA’s biggest fundraiser each year and funds our newsletter expenses. It takes a big effort to pull off and we sorely need volunteers. Though there is work involved, it is actually a fun time to meet neighborhood volunteers, and Summit residents who stop by to help, to chat, donate, browse and buy some treasures.

Please SAVE your surplus household treasures and donate them to our yard sale; do not throw them out. (We can also give you a donation slip if requested for tax purposes but you have to itemize and value the items.) Recycling is a worthy principle!

The 2 nights before the sale (May 10 and 11), we set aside for neighbors to drop items off in the lobby of the Church of the Redeemer between 6-8 pm. We will pick up only very heavy items on Fri. evening May 11th, with our rented U-Haul. Call Connie, @ #726-7123, and leave a message if you have a heavy donation.

We could use a helper or two with the U-Haul trip; we definitely need “pricers” to help price donated items on the 2 evenings before the sale, and we can always use helpers on the sale day. We start setting up at 7:30 a.m. which is a labor-intensive time for 1 1/2 hours. The Sale officially opens at 9:00 a.m. and goes till 2 or 3 pm, depending on business and energy. Then it’s pack-up time, when we need energetic helpers again.

Save the yard sale date on your calendar. E-mail or call me if you can lend a hand (Connie, #726-7123).

I hope that this event does not produce a lot of unwanted noise, traffic and disturbance!
