Rhode Runner, a store dedicated to supporting athletes on foot, has recently opened in the Summit Neighborhood.

Principal owners Bob Beschoff and his wife, Colleen, moved the business to 657 North Main St. from South Main Street, where it had been since 2001, to better serve customers on the East Side. It has a grand opening sale running through April 21.

Both Beschoffs have been involved with local road races and marathons, plus Bob has been a footwear developer with Brooks and now with New Balance. Their staff members all have extensive backgrounds in local events as well.

The store features a variety of shoes for walking and running including Asics, Brooks, Mizuno, Nike, New Balance, Saucony and North Face. It also stocks a wide selection of specialty apparel and accessories.

A unique running strip is located right in the store to try out new shoes and a gait analysis is provided. In addition, yoga and zumba classes are offered.

The web site. www.rhoderunner.net, has an extensive survey of products and services, including a calendar of events, plus route maps and medical information.

“We want to be involved with the community,” said one of the employees.

what if anything is happening in front of the running store on N. Main–to correct RIPTA from taking over the parking?

Thanks!

I understand that RIPTA has taken over the parking in front of this establishment..Who made this decision and what will be done, if anything to correct it?

Thanks (a former Board member)
